Geoff Johnson is a Singer-Songwriter and producer from Lincolnshire in the UK , he is presently living in Fremantle Western Australia.
He writes produces and sings all his own material .
I have been asked on more than one occasion ‘’ what is your style of music’’
Well, I’m not really sure I like been categorized, I like the freedom of writing music to suit my mood at that time. I do have a passion for good lyrics and tend to be a bit of a storyteller…
This sums Geoff up perfectley, he was born in Sheffield ,Yorkshire, in the UK, his parents had moved down from Seaham Harbour just outside Durham, after spending all his young years in Yorkshire he eventually married and had two children. after a few years they decided to move from Yorkshire across to the East coast of Lincolnshire.
Music came in and out of his life as various friends were involved in the music business in one way and another. Geoff's marriage eventually failed and it was around this time he really got involved with music when a close friend built his own recording studio, they started doing cover versions of mainly Bob Seger, Bruce Springstein etc.
The studio was never really successful but by this time Geoff had started penning his own songs, his very first ‘The Place’ featured on the first album 'That's Life',Geoff eventually found someone new to share his life; they married and had a daughter, after a while they decided to try life in Australia, settling just outside Fremantle, Perth WA.
A second abum followed 'Still Waters', and he has now just completed a third CD '31 Lawn Avenue', the album has a mix of ballads and country pop songs some written whilst traveling across to the South East corner of Australia, and for the first time an instrumental,'Heartstrings',the songs are mainly metaphors of Geoff's experiences and life in general.
Geoff went on to write two EP’s…The Stranger, and Red Earth, he has also written and published two books, Poetyrically Speaking, and Animal Verse’atility, both on poetry.
He received an Honorable Critique Award from the songwriter’s society in October 2008 for...................A Change in the Wind’ (a song he wrote about the problems coloured people have to endure) ''why is the colour of your skin such an issue''..... he has since gone on from strength to strength.
.
The best,Geoff
